A single-varietal banger of a cider. Discovered in New Jersey during the early 1700's, lost after Prohibition then re-discovered in 1976, the bittersharp Harrison apple is a superstar destined for the Malus Hall of Fame. Once known as "The Champagne of Newark", this cider smells of a hike in the Kittatinny Mtns. with a cantaloupe in one hand and a caramel square in the other. Cucumber, apricot and macerated white grape announce themselves as the juice coats the tongue while the soft touch of tannins enliven the cheeks. Carbonation is attained by bottling before primary fermentation is finished. Pop the top with a BiC lighter or go saber-style using a vintage New Jersey license plate. This lil' cider would have no problem holding it's own in the ring with a bone-in pork chop or romanesco and mushrooms over polenta. Would be equally at home enjoyed on a sidewalk complementing a pork roll sammie (mustard, never ketchup).
